Great story line and great casting. Never been so interested in tv show.
  • Another Zombie Flick

I really liked the idea of the virus, the special effects and the creature at the center of this story. After a few episodes, however, it seemed to turn into another garden variety zombie movie. Also, there are lengthly, labored, boring personal dramatic scenes involving uninteresting characters. I don't think any real effort was invested in researching the government agencies and related protocols that were involved in the story, which made me roll my eyes frequently....it was almost cartoonish at times. I really wanted to like this too.
  • Flawed, but enjoyable

It’s not a masterpiece, but I enjoyed Season 1. I felt it had a strong pilot and largely delivered. Some parts were poorly conceived—the clownish visage of the big bad being one of them (oh my!), but aside from Dutch, I like the ensemble cast even if most are somewhat unlikable people. Not having read the books, I’m not sure what’s coming and plan to stick around for Season 2.

To those of you complaining about the ad on the episode grow the heck up, its 15 frakking seconds.

I bought this based on the free first episode and that seems to be the only interesting episode. I degrades quickly into a cheap TV procedural drama with tacked on CDC hero fantasies.
  • Looking forward to being paid by Apple

Businesses pay to run ads, right? And we consumers pay a premium for shows from Apple, so that we don’t have to watch ads. By sneaking the ads into our purchase, we’re getting a bad deal. We now must suffer watching them for as long as we own the shows. Our perpetual expense, Apple’s gain. Seems reasonable that Apple should stick with the original deal, and either remove the ads, refund the purchases, or pay a royalty to anyone suffering this perpetual advertising.

I love scary suspenseful shows. They don't come along very often so I pounce on them whenever they do. This has got to be the worst I have seen. Three words: giant rubber vampire. Could they not have sprung for better special effects than a giant rubber monster that WIGGLES? There are some very good actors and a few lousy ones. The only way to gut your way through this show is to watch it ironically like a mystery science theater classic. Sadly, I actually paid for this.
  • Good Idea, Poor Execution

I love the idea of a vampiric plague threatening to wipe out humanity, but the characters in this story and the poor acting behind them ruins any entertainment that the show could have provided. Look somewhere else if you are searching for quality.

Brilliant first season from the mind of genius Guillermo Del Toro. So far this is a great adaption of his and Chuck Hogan's brilliant trilogy of novels. Part medical investigation drama, vampire hunters and end of the world apocalypse this show draws from real world scares (Ebola/MERS) and of course classic hollywood horror tropes. As I was watched the show, parts of it reminded me of my favorite horror comic book of all time -- The Tomb of Dracula (Marvel)...and as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing. If you're looking for a show about cutesy, lovesick teenage vampires...this ain't it!!
