Description

Season Three saw Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! With a wave of anti-alien sentiment roiling the country led by Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer); and a new command at the DEO, Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) – Kara returns to Catco, where she mentors young reporter Nia Nal (Nicole Maines), who evolves into a superhero herself.

  • Great Season

Supergirl Season 3 was great, Season 4 so far even greater. It is timely to our time while relevant to the comics. The plot setting examines Steel Workers losing their job, a Professor with free speech suppressed and cast out, and Corporate Media ignoring The Ignored, thus creating ‘The Others’ is fitting. Supergirl Season 4 challenges viewers to see other people’s world that may be prejudged as black and white - but by entering them with no judgment, shows the shades of grey that exist within its origin. Season 4 is a triumph so far, and should continue to touch on all angles of a wide political spectrum, and personal experiences. Seeing all sides to a complicated political climate may make some viewers at first uncomfortable, but eventually seeing light illuminated in the darkness - reveals humanity within.
  • It's all about politics

The show has just stopped even pretending to provide entertainment. It just pushes a left leaning view on everyone. Why can't you just put on a good story and leave the poltics out of it?
  • Sadly lacking...

I had high hopes for this show but the constant political overtones & trying to push every agenda they possibly can has ruined this show. No longer watching this once great show.

I love supergirl, I love Melissa Benoist but I miss Mon-El and Winn. It’s not the same without them. I MISS KARAMEL!! They had a great love story. Please bring back Mon-El!! Him and Kara were perfect together
  • Supergirl no longer Super - but is misguided.

Tried it again this season, with no cigar. Political agenda way too obvious. Just like most of TV, Supergirl fails to entertain, but instead works hard at indoctrinating the public through subterfuge and propaganda. I'm out. I guess it's back to adventure novels for escape.
  • Pushes a single political narrative

Loved the show at first, but the politics became too much for me. It wouldn't be bad if they at least showed different sides of the argument in an unbiased fashion, but they don't. If you want this level of political bias, you might as well watch MSNBC.
  • Great show, lots of potential.

Overall, love this show — it's nice to have hopeful endings at the end of a long day. Melissa Benoist does a fantastic job portraying the Girl of Steel. Themes of charity, compassion, peace, sacrifice, tolerance, friendship, and hope for humanity to rise above permeate this show. Although I'm enjoying this season, the best episodes so far are those like Season 3's "Faithful," which combine a strong, believable, and compelling emotional story along with forces (like cult religous beliefs) that aren't simple to fix with super powers and for which, despite all of her strength, SuperGirl cannot necessarily "beat." These kinds of stories allow all the characters to mine some real depth (and feel way more believable), while offering a nuanced view of how, sometimes, the very things that come to define us as humans can tear us apart. The tension between SuperGirl, who is incorruptible (although it would be interesting to see her stumble into shades of gray, as long as she can find her way back to her own truth), and the human world she loves, full of shadows and light, offer an opportunity to explore how we define "good," why we fight for it, and whether it's a battle that can (or should) ever truly be won. Keep up the good work, and thank you for the wonderful show!
  • I am officially done with Supergirl!

Right off the bat, here comes the political garbage in the first episode. I hear enough politics all day, the last thing I want is to hear this crap in a show that is supposed to be fun and entertaining. I am a huge superman/supergirl fan. I have purchased all three seasons of supergirl and I have watched every episode but I think I am finally done with this show. This show started off awesome on CBS and now it has become a political propaganda trash can. I find myself going back to season 1 and 2 watching some old episodes and I am remembering how good this show used to be. But now it has gotten worse. Season 4 will be the first season of this show that I will not be buying. And I sure hope they don't make a Superman spin off as the rumors have been suggesting. Of course, I want a Superman show but if it is anything like what Supergirl has become I don't think I can handle it. I can't watch them destroy superman like they have destroyed supergirl.

Great season opener. And I think Brainy fits right in. My only question is how Lena, with as smart as she is, manages to be completely fooled by her mother time after time.
