The all new show has altered the focus away from mechanical aptitude and towards past/current American social issues, this suggests the Show is going the way of Class.
The scripts have Dr Who using her ‘sonic’ as a magic wand while fixing various American social Issues and muttering about.
The scripts for the old male character have him plodding through scripts with the tech knowledge of a turnip.

After years of people telling me I needed to try out Doctor Who, I finally decided to give it a go. Why? Because of this new series.
I was intrigued to see if a show 50+ years running could successfully genderbend its main character while still keeping true to the heart of the character and the show itself. The Doctor has become an icon for geeks everywhere, and as a huge Star Wars, Tolkien, and general sci-fi/fantasy nerd, I have to appreciate that. Series 11 seemed like a great jumping-on join for a noob to get her start in the Whoniverse.
I was absolutely right. I fell in love with Jodie Whittaker’s version of the Doctor almost immediately - her quirky mannerisms (and especially facial expressions) remind me somewhat of Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit films. She instantly captured everything I had always thought the Doctor was supposed to represent. The wisdom, compassion, strength, and age, all wrapped up in a bundle of energy and excitement over the wonders of the universe.
I loved it all and couldn’t figure out why so many fanboys were hating.
After finishing this series, I went back to series 1, with the introduction of the Ninth Doctor. I’ve been working my way through ever since. And now I’m beginning to understand why many were underwhelmed with series 11.
Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love Thirteen. I’m still fond of Yaz, Ryan, and Graham. And there are many moments in this series that are downright awesome.
But in comparison to past series, the writing is honestly pretty... ehhhh. Plots are fairly simple and predictable, and none of the characters really develop a ton. Besides, I think Jodie could achieve SO much more with the character if the writers and directors would give her half the chance. Let the Doctor finally get tired of having to stand by while the innocent are torn down, let her memories of past battles and loves and losses shine through for a few moments, let her new companions hear stories of those who came before. Let her somehow encounter a shadow from her past, whether it be an old companion, enemy, or location, and the true ancientness of the Doctor be glimpsed again.
I don’t want to doubt that the writers will clue in for series 12. I really do believe that awesome things are coming. I just hope that the writers realize how and why this series isn’t all Doctor Who could be - not because of the actors, or the characters, and especially not because of the gender change. But because it’s capable of far more than it’s currently being given.
Believe in your characters and fans, BBC. Don’t water it down for us — give us the epicness this show and the first female Doctor deserve.
The New Doctor Is Great, But...

The writing was not up to the show’s usual standards for creativity and wonder. I think the new Doctor is great, though. It’s too bad they didn’t give her better material to work with in her first season.
New Years episode

How do I get the New Years episode? Can’t say how good it is until I see the last episode.
Best season by far

Man, the production values, writing, acting, plotting. It’s a quality reinvention of a great show. Some of the best sci-fi I’ve seen on TV in a long while. Absurdly good character work, delightful new ideas and worlds, and a great new Doctor to top it all off.
I can’t wait to see where they take this next!
Doctor, I let you go

Just pretend the Doctor opted to not regenerate at the end of the Capaldi era. It’s better that way.
Such crap.

Final victim of BBC. This is the problem with a content producer not answerable to their customers.

I love Jodie and Chris, but this was not a good fit. I look forward to seeing their work in a more suitable genre. I won’t be purchasing anymore DW episodes.
Sadly dissappointed

I was really looking forward to the new season of Doctor Who. I've watched Jodie Whittaker in other performances and thought she was very good and couldn’t wait to see what she brought to The Doctor. I even like the idea of having more than one companion. What's surprised me was how bad the writing for this series was. Most of the episodes started out with a very good premise but seem to fall flat halfway through or towards the end. For the next series I hope they keep the cast and fire the writers. I also don't mind the political commentary but keep it subtle and not a slap in the face.
Trip down memory lane

I've been watching Doctor Who since I was a kid in the late 70's/80's and I'm just really enjoying the ensemble cast like we had in the original series run. I think the broader perspective gives the situations more excitement and better character development. And I'm really enjoying Whittaker's take on the Doctor. A little bit of 10's timing and compassion, a little bit of 5's sass and fashion sense. Definitely worth a view, particularly if you're coming back to the series.
