This version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is my all time favorite.
  • Misleading Pilot

I watched the pilot and after I got used to the very different art style, real enjoyed the reinvention of all the characters (except for Splinter who ended up being more sumo than ninja). Then I got into the account episodes and it tanked. The plot arcs got lost in meaningless mini episodes that do nothing to explain the world or the background of the very different characters. It was a complete bait and switch on the quality of writing.
  • Different isn't Always Bad

Ok, so I was SUPER skeptical at first. But after watching, at least, three episodes, I wanted to see how the show progressed. And being an older fan (TMNT is my childhood) I wasn't exactly sure if I would like Raph being the leader instead of Leo, or Leo being the more laid back scarcastic brother, the brothers being different species, or even the magic weapons. I'll also admit that I thought the comedy would be that really bad and stupid dumb stuff that in all reality isn't very funny; but I actually laughed and was pleasently surprised. Though Raph is leader, his brothers are actually treated as equals. In one episode (Origami Tsunami) Leo actually takes the lead on their mission... but they all work together with that brotherly bond we all know and love! Sure, Donnie may be a bit more techy and nerdy, but his brothers actually think that Donnie is super cool because of his passion and smarts. But people quickly judged the show by the first episode... which I totally get, I was one of those people who wanted it to stick to the norm. But, if you stop to consider that even though this turtle series is different, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing. April O'Neil is an African American girl; nothing wrong with that. In fact, I can't help but fall in love with who she is; she's, personally speaking, one of the best Aprils I've seen in any series yet! She's optimistic, sassy, bold, fearless, and confident in herself - and she's only appeared in only about three or four shorts so far! The turtle brothers in this series are just starting off... but you have to realize where the writers may be coming from: teenagers. The TMNT are actually acting more near their actual age than most of where the other series had them grow up quickly; this is really where the comedy takes root. Also, consider the turtle-verses. Any true TMNT fan will know that there are more turtle-verses (10 main dimensions as mentioned in the 2k12 series) out there that are completely and utterly different. I mean, doesn't anyone remember the Super Turtle dimension? The turtles didn't even have their original names, New York was Megatropolis, April was mayor, Casey was a timid, mild-mannered, cluts of a secretary, and Splinter... or Sliver, as he was called, was evil. And this dimension wasn't only mentioned in the 2k03 series, but the original Mirage Comics! The possibility for the turtle verses are endless! .............. ok, back on topic. However, one must also keep in mind that this isn't an episode by episode plot, but rather a short by short plot and the story is being built and mentioned through each of the shorts. If anyone has seen Danny Phantom, the plot will build very simularly. Already a few episodes in (like 6), the turtle brothers are already beginning to refer back to experiences in other shorts. But instead of being darker (like the other TMNT series) this one is much more bright and fun. The only problem I, personally, have with this particular series is Splinter. I mean... what the SHELL where they thinking?!?! So far, Splinter isn't the most responsible father we've come to know and respect... he's a fat rat who is absolutely disgusting. Splinter doesn't even call his sons by their names! Instead he calls them by the colors of their masks! But, I'm hoping that there is a turn around somewhere for his particular character. I only hold that particular hope for the soul reason that the boys found the mystic symbol thing in his 'Do not touch cabinet' because Splinter possibly betrayed Baron or something of the sorts (that's my hopeful guess at least). I mean, Baron (the main villain) seems to be a warrior in his own right and immediately notices that the turtles are untrained. I only hope we learn of the turtle's origin story soon so there could be a little more explination behind Splinter. Overall, I find this series of TMNT to be rather enjoyable. Sure, I can't stand the way they created Splinter, but the show is only just beginning. The brotherly love is still there and very prominent through the series. The comedy isn't actually bad... I mean, if it made me laugh then props (it's hard for a show to actually make me lol)! And even though the story isn't immediately progressing, I appreciate the filler episodes that are helping it's audience get to know them, how they live, and what these new role for them are like. Give the series a chance. Who knows? You may end up liking something just a little different.

The last series was very well written, and was enjoyable for my kids, and myself. I hate this, but my kids hate it even more. It is not funny, the story is painfully forgettable, the art style is garbage, and it’s barely based on the TMNT property, in any way.

What am I watching??? This has got to be some joke. This is just not in line, with anything in the tmnt storyline or how any show has been before. Since when is Raphael the leader??? That’s like the number one problem with this whole show!!!! Raphael doesn’t even have the character to be a leader, he’s way to trigger happy and head strong to be a leader. Leo should always be the leader he ALWAYS has been the leader, he has the character for it!! It’s one of the reasons he’s the shows main character. What did you do to splinter!!!!????? He looks terrible! It’s like you put a rat, fat ,lazy and simple minded into one bowl and mixed it up and got that guy. The animation alone is hard to follow at times. Everyone else is acting like an idiot and like there not even ninjas, almost as if ninjas don’t apply to anything there doing. Leo literally falls on his face when trying to flip fighting some random bad guy,( who also looks stupid. ) which just makes it seem like he’s not even a ninja at all in any way. Just that scene alone was hard to watch. 😫🤢🤮 And when Mikey and Raphael try to go stealth in the dark and literally hide behind the thinnest poles ever was just completely terrible. 😡😡Almost as if they don’t even know what a ninja is. Donnie seems to be the only person that they got right his sarcasm make a good character , but even still his character feels wrong in certain ways. Mikey is Mikey. He’s nothing new. I’ve seen all the episodes so far and I only finished 2 of them I couldn’t bring myself to finish the other 3 because of how crappy they were and I really tried.😐😑😬🙄😒 These people were already receiving a massive backlash from fans just because the way the characters look, and this is why, this is not what you want to see if your a tmnt fan. I’m trying to figure out why you canceled the last show!!!! It’s better than this mediocre crap. It may be funny but it’s ultimately a waste of time and misses every thing the original shows had that made them cool. Nickelodeon is just ruining once good shows and replaces them with crappy kiddy shows, and the fact that kids younger than me hate this show, just shows how bad it is. If your going to do a tmnt show then bring in the comic storyline or something. The TMNT animated movie was better than this. But as of now this is the worst reboot of a show I have ever seen.😡😡😡 hopefully it will mature in every way as the show goes on but my expectations are not that great.⚔️⚔️⚔️

Going into this show and leaving the 2012 turtles I was not very happy until I heard the theme songs and it was amazing so I was happy then the designs of the turtles and characters grew on me so is watched the first episode and it was amazing it had comedy and not fart jokes like I was expecting but yet it had clever humor and as a Donnie fan he cracked the most jokes to me and the animation during the fight scenes is amazing I just hope the whole series stays amazing
  • My 5 year old nephew thought it was garbage

I thought everything about this show was terrible but I figured, hey, this is for a new generation. So I watched it with my nephew seeing as how he is the intended audience and might enjoy it. He proceeded to ask why they would do this and just wanted to watch any other TMNT series but this one. Even small children know this series is a bad decision. Kids are so smart these days.
