This is my favorite childhood movie! I recently bought it as a DVD (opposed to the VHS I grew up with) and watched it. I love it JUST as much as I did as a child. It is wonderous, imaginative, funny, nostalgic, and engaging! The Rotten Tomatoes reviews are inaccurate and it is robbing this amazing movie of its glory. I love this movie so much that I've just bought a digital copy. Robin Williams is an amazing actor. He brings so much life and wonder to the movie and nobody else could have done the job with as much excellence as he did! Definitely pull kids/family close and watch this movie!

Hook. What a wonderful movie. It’s one of those movies that can bring the whole family together. All actors and actresses in this are great especially Dustin Hoffman. This movie blends action, comedy, story and plot into one. It shows beautifully the way Peter remembers his childhood and the scene when he becomes peter again and crows is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time. Steven Spielberg brings back your childhood in this amazing of the "Hook" movie.

The review from Herr Boff was spot on. I'd like to add that even as an adult, it is a good story with a poignant message. Children look for a dad who is able to view the world from their eyes and encourages a level of risk that invites adventure. They also look forward to spending time with their dad when he values them above all else without interruption (no cellphones, etc.) My son mentions these qualities when he describes the perfect dad. This message is widespread throughout the movie. The perfect self-made boy becoming a typical worldly man then transforming into the perfect boy-made dad.
