Description

Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) has become the man of the house, overnight! Accidentally left behind when his family rushes off on a Christmas vacation, Kevin gets busy decorating the house for the holidays. But he's not decking the halls with tinsel and holly. Two bumbling burglars are trying to break in, and Kevin's rigging a bewildering battery of booby traps to welcome them!

Not sure how this became a classic, it’s not good for kids and not interesting for adults either. Possibly ok for teens but still nothing special.

When asked about my favorite movies, my number one consideration is re-watchability. Can I rewatch the movie? How many times? How quickly will it get old? Home Alone is the only movie I’ve seen hundreds of times. My younger brother was obsessed with it when it was originally released, and I’d swear there was a two or three year period where we watched Home Alone almost every day. That VHS, recorded from some movie cable network, lasted forever. Almost 30 years later, it’s one of the very very few hard copy discs that I own, and my kids (teens through elementary) are putting that DVD through its paces. So yeah, I’ve seen it hundreds of times, and I still laugh out loud and quote my favorite parts; but more importantly, Chris Columbus captures the heart and warmth of what we all desire during the holidays. It’s a genuine classic.
