In a mythical time, a teenage boy becomes a dragon rider with the help of a wise old man, and with his newly-hatched dragon, avenges the murder of his uncle, rescues a beautiful warrior, and battles a tyrannical king.
Yikes yikes yikes yikes.
Love this movie
This is a really great film for kids and adults of all ages. I have had it for years and watch it often. It a very good family movie.
It’s Aged Well
The movie has problems; pacing, character development, and some questionable editing decisions, but that mostly stems from the fact that they tried to cram a sprawling, world-building epic into a couple of hours. But, it has aged nicely. Sure it’s a little hokey and hurried, but seeing Saphira brought to life is worth it. Sadly, the misstep on the first film probably means we won’t see the rest of this great story on film any time soon. A great loss for anyone who loves dragons.
Time to read the book, I guess.
Read the reviews and already figured that the movie is nothing like the book(s) it's based on so I honestly have no idea how bad it really is. I just watched it because dragons.
Having said that, I threw 3 stars at it due to the fact that they did a pretty good job at bringing a dragon to life. The movie itself, cheezy AF, the story is so rushed, there's very little character development and while trying to condense a book into a 1.5 hours of movie there was too much walking, riding, galoping and whatever else. At least LOTR/HOBBIT spaced it out into a trillogy so they can include all the walking, riding, galloping, ect,.
TL;DR: Not the worst but far from even good. I guess OK.
One of the few times I’ve ever walked out of a theatre. It was that bad even ignoring what it’s potential was given the books, it was unwatchable.
Awesome family movie
We love this movie and it’s clean for kids.
One of my favorite books but the movie is not like the book
Just like Percy Jackson a fantastic book ruined by a terrible movie. don't watch the movie, forget it exists
This movie is so boring I would write negative 1,000,000 stars
There are so many things wrong with this movie. The idiots that made it messed up the Urgals (tall, grey, and horned), left out the city-mountain Tronjheim and the Isidar Mithrim, as well as the witch-child Elva and countless other important details to the entire story. Don’t waste your time. Just read the books.
