In early 18th-century England, a frail Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) occupies the throne and her closest friend, Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz), governs the country while tending to Anne’s health. When new servant Abigail (Emma Stone) arrives, Sarah takes Abigail under her wing as she cunningly schemes to return to her aristocratic roots, setting off an outrageous rivalry to become the Queen’s favourite.

  • Am I the only person not to like this movie?

    By tesscg
I may be the only one who did not like it. It has very little balance against the misery of so many people. The previews all looked so much fun...but those were the fun parts. The rest is pretty much pure revenge misery. And the ending...I will not ruin it...but not happy either. Not what I expected.
  • Complete tragedy

Though costumes & set dressing are pretty: you can see those on PBS Masterpiece Theatre. Just say no; historically inaccurate & disgusting. Rating should be 0.

  • Stellar movie for those with the humor for it

    By JustinAndries
This movie is truly amazing and well done. The cast is fantastic and the set pieces also. The audience of the movie however needs to be the right one. There is a lot of hate and bad comments on this movie and I personally feel that is due to the difference in culture and taste. The movie has dry and dark humor (as typical of British) which is very often is not appreciated by American audiences just because of the difference in taste. As to such just be warned. You may totally hate it and that is fine. Nevertheless it’s a brilliant move for those with the palette
