Generation Iron 2 revealed the further expansion of the bodybuilding industry, how the internet changed it, and how athletes were finding new ways to push the limit of physique perfection. Now Generation Iron 3 will attempt to finally answer the ultimate question – what is the ideal and perfect physique? Traveling across the globe including India, Brasil, Europe, Africa, Canada, and the USA – Generation Iron 3 will feature and follow bodybuilders, trainers, experts around the world to determine what the universal ideal physique should look like. With so many divisions appearing within the bodybuilding leagues – what body type should be championed as the absolute best in the world?

  • A bigger look at bodybuilding

I thought this was a huge step up from the second film - taking the film internationally to a bunch of different countries was awesome. Really interesting to see the similarities and differences between the bodybuilding cultures across the world. Loved it!
  • Interesting but...

Interesting but not worth $20... A big fall off from the first two in the series.

Artistically, well executed film, and interesting to watch. However, it should have presented the broader BB picture to include some of the less glamorous realities of engaging in this sport. We heard about the financial and social sacrifices these athletes make in order to qualify for world class titles and the rewards that accompany this, but there was too little exploration of the longer term health sacrifices--the potential for long term well documented serious consequences of the drugs/supplements required to make one a top competitor--in BB or any sport these days. The segments with a middle aged Dorian Yates who seemed to have some regrets for his earlier choices, and the warnings of both the American physician, Dr. O'Connor ,and the clinical psychologist seemed to be placed only as footnotes which could be easily missed by aspiring BB's-- most of whom will be young and ignorant of these dangers, The chances of this are even more likely in the emerging BB markets featured in the film. Just as has already happened in the US, the vast majority of these newcomers will not be competing in competitions, but will nonetheless seek to emulate their BB heroes who are taking excessive amounts of these drugs. This oversight in GI 3 was disappointing.
