Ethan Hawke and Rose Byrne were charming in this romantic story but comedy. I would set it apart from a romanic comedy.

I actually love British movies for the most part. I was looking forward to seeing this and wish I hadn’t. The story line had so much potential, but fell far short of becoming what makes a good movie instead of an ok one. I’d wait to rent this when it a .99 cent or on Netflix. Really disappointed 😏

I appreciated the slow churn with this story- the comedy is continuous and it's just an enjoyable movie overall. Ethan Hawke is believable and Chris ODowd is perfect But Rose Byrne makes this movie the magical special gem it is. Her entire arc feels genuine, the chemistry with Hawke (blossoming potential romantic) and his son (as a mom type figure) is lovely and feels true. Additional characters add depth and paint a real picture for how the main characters have made it this far- and how and why they need to take stock and start moving forward instread of looking back or staying stuck.

What a fantastic movie. A really great surprise. I had no idea this was based of a work by Nick Hornby. Ethan Hawks is really great in this as is everyone else involved. I was a little sad when the end came as I could have spent a bit more time with these characters.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but the movie didn’t seem long enough or the characters were never developed in the length it is??? And it doesn’t have an ending.... I love unique stories and I had high hopes for this but it was a dud.
