  • Psychological Thriller Masterpiece!

The tone of this film is very brutal & disturbing. The story is basically the book of Genesis told in a modern day perspective. God creates Earth & Humanity. Humanity becomes disobediant, greedy & corrupt. Humanity brings carnage to Mother Earth & eventually lead themselves to the Apocalypse. The performances in this movie were fantastic! Jennifer Lawrence portraying Mother Earth & how her character is dealing with the abuse of humanity was really affective. You can understand her frustration toward these uninvited strangers destroying her house. This is another one of Jennifer Lawrence's best performances as well as Javier Bardem's. It's a unique film unlike anything I've seen before. It is relentless & it is a mind-blowing experience!

  • An unrealistic take on love

I normally like Jennifer Lawrence movies, but I watched this movie and thought it had an unrealistic take on why a woman would love a man unconditionally. Why would a woman give her all too a man that truly has displayed that he worships Satan in all that he wants from her. I thought the movie might have had a point her wanting too be able too show some kind of love and get that love in return, but what’s the point if he is just going too turn out too be a Muslim kind of person about her.

  • Look Deeper

When I first saw this movie, I wasn’t sure if I loved it or hated it, to be honest, as I honestly felt traumatized. As many of the reviews on here will tell you, the performances by Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem were beyond amazing in their own lights. However, if you aren’t looking for a “Jacob’s Ladder” type horror film where nothing is what it seems, don’t watch it. I’m serious, you won’t enjoy yourself. And, you still might not, even if that’s what you are expecting. This movie is extremely graphic in both violence and in the stress level it pushes the audience to endure. That being said, if you can handle that sort of thing, don’t take this movie at face value. The vision the director had for this movie is so, so much deeper than what meets the eye. Regarding the more negative reviews on this movie, most of them talk about the movie being boring and confusing; I can understand that, but again, that’s only looking at the movie for what it is presenting in the moment- I implore you to look deeper and beyond the lines the characters speak or the actions they take. Look, rather, at the symbolism behind that. If there is one thing you take from this movie, let it be the symbolism. THERE IS A MESSAGE. I promise. And waiting to understand what it means is so worth it.

I wish I could give negative stars. This movie is a jumble of chaos, confusion, oddities, with no semblance of personalities in any of the characters or relationships among them. If you don't mind hearing the sound of babies bones breaking, watch it.

This film can’t do the one this a film is meant to do, entertain. This film is basically one big allegory, however it’s not subtle and misses the whole point of using an allegory. I saw Mother! in the theater and absolutely hated it. I can not tell you enough that from both a critical standpoint and a casual standpoint this film is borderline unwatchable and you shouldn’t wast your time.

No redeeming qualities, depressing, waste of money. Please give your next script to a normal intelligent person to read before you even think about making it.
