You complete ruined it!! This garbage was no where near the story line of any of the books, plot or character wise!! Ron Howard should be smacked for his contribution to this crap and Stephen King should be ashamed for letting this to even see the light of day.... in the words of Roland, He has forgotten the face of his father.

This is a film that is held together b y the competence of its adult actors who come together as a kind of fragmented ensembleand make the film work in spite of a script (and perhaps direction that is at once too familiar and spends too much time explaining itself. I do wonder how this film got a PG13. It opens with a scene of children being tortured (with the implication made later that their brains are burn out in the process).. While there's no gore involved in the torture scene, the flic is very violent. Ten years ago when I had a 13 year old I would have been angry had he seen this. Which brings us to the central problem the film makers did not overcome: Is it a kid flick of an adult action/fantasy? I'm still not sure, and I don't think the director and script writers were either.

The only things entertaining are all the fake positive reviews. Movie was terrible. Major disappointment. I wouldn’t even say based on the books.

Lots of action through the movie that keeps you watching. Great acting. Just get lost in it because it's really good!

Terrible movie. Nothing like the book. Such a shame since the books were so good. I now know why it was only 99 cents to rent. Although I would strongly discourage anyone from watching the movie, I’d highly recommend the books!

I expected this to be a bomb from the ratings. Fortunately, it wasn't that bad..its not a 16%, thats not fair. The acting and directing are really good. I know nothing about the mythology and never knew this was a book beforehand. The reason this only gets three stars is becauser the concept is so stupid..I wasvery underehelmed with the concept.

Excellent! I want to read the series. Just plain awesome movie 🎥. Rotten tomatoes got it wrong this time (if you have stock in them and often I do myself). If your a kid at heart, have a ravenous imagination and like sci fi I think you would enjoy this movie, as I did.
  • a disgrace to the books

stephen king didn't write 4,330 pages of magic and action to be handed this pile of trash. "based on the novels of stephen king" is a huge overstatement.
