  • Wow, Life Changing!

I watched this movie in summer 2018 and have watched it countless times since. I have finally started to get over my fear of singing thanks to the songs in this movie and the animation is STUNNING. I was also inspired to start animating! I ended up animating in Notability :/ because no I am not buying a tablet, I am TeN. I have also ended up doing very long singing-in-the-shower sessions and I think I just realized why my back looks like a tomato when I get out. Lol. But can we also talk about how FREAKING REALISTIC the water animation is? It is aMaZiNg! I have been waiting for a sequel and last night I dreamed that I was animating the letter E for some reason then the sequel came out! It was free and I watched it and guess what? The Whole Movie Was A Screaming Letter E. But I have gotten waaaaay off topic! This movie is worth $4 to rent or $20 to buy! I do not care, this is amazing! If you have not watched it yet, what are you doing with your life But there is one thing I’m confused about. Here it is: (Spoilers!!!) So at the beginning of the movie, Maui steals the hears and runs away, but then you can see both Te Fiti AND Te Kā. How is this possible? At the end of the movie it is revealed that Te Fiti and Te Kā are the same, so how did that happen? Had Te Fiti’s soul gone into Te Kā’s so the island was...just an island? Also I have not watched the movie since October. Guess I watched it a little too many times. Okay, PhEw! That took a REEEEALLY long time to write. Okay, back to my free ripoff version of Minecraft. (I have the money, guess I’m just too cheap & lazy to go to Target [which is five minutes away] to get an iTunes card.) Okay, NOW I’m really done. If you made it to the end of my positive rant, congrats, I will find you and give you a cookie. Just kidding, ten year olds aren’t stalkers (I think) Okay bye

This could be in the conversation for one of the best animated Disney Studios movies of all time, and the music could be as good as, or possibly better than LMM’s Hamilton, as it blends both the Polynesian music with LMM’s meter and lyrics. That may be heretical to some readers, but I’m serious. Like Hamilton, the songs need more than one hearing to “get” them. For instance, Shiny on first hearing was difficult but is now, for me, one of the best songs in the feature. Casting was incredible as well. The emotion that Moana invokes when she is a toddler on the beach, when she is leaving the village and stops to see her grandmother and then caught by her mother, when she is alone on the boat and her grandma’s spirit comes to her, and when she is facing Te Ka face to face are remarkably powerful moments to rival moments in Lion King when Mufasa dies, or when Mr. Banks slowly walks back alone to the bank in Mary Poppins. Even the water has great personality. Seriously in the conversation for best Disney Studios movies of all time. Casting, music, artistry, story, this thing has it all.
