“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Loved the Harry Potter franchise, unfortunately this is a bad money grab and misses out on the recipes that made the originals work.

  • Told with Sound and Fury, Signifying Nothing

This movie is utterly pointless. It is a huge, muddled mess filled with CG FX along with lots of chatter and a lot of running about. Nothing is well-defined, most of the characters are two-dimensional cut-outs. It is poor storytelling and, to be frank, the director was in miles out of his depth. If someone like Chris Columbus had been in charge, this could have been an excellent film. Too bad. As is, it is like every other movie at the Rowling dance is wearing a tuxedo but this movie is wearing Ron Weasley's hand-me-down gown.
